the colours of my world

when jealousy hits, it is felt in the epicenter of the body - the solar plexus. if jealousy had a colour, it would be silvery-grey, with a poisonous tinge of green and purple. a stealthily shimmering molten liquid with high viscosity and a slightly sticky disposition. if you should try to squelch jealousy, be warned that it grows and expands to fill your gut with more of the same viscousness and seeks to obstruct your breathing. most visible evidences of jealousy are furrowed brows, overbright eyes and a slight greening of skin. sometimes a thick shiny viscid fluid is known to seep out of the ears too.

anger is felt in the heat surrounding the entire upper body, making your hair stand quivering as if in an earthquake. loud roars sound in your ears and vision is assaulted by colours that suddenly appear too vivid. no prizes for guessing that if anger has a colour, it is a fiery furious red, almost black in the core, resembling inky tar that is sticky and indelible. most obvious indicators of anger are the distorted waves of heat in atmosphere immediately surrounding body and a naked orange flame dancing in each eye, cartoon style. smoke may also be emitted off top of head.

sadness is felt in the stomach. a dull pitching feeling. acids flow down the insides of the gut in a gathering pool at the pit which enhances the emptiness of the chasm within. food and water does nothing to fill this gaping hole. sadness is a dull sickly yellow, like mouldy cheese or phlegm. most visible evidence of sadness is melancholy-induced retching.

disappointment is felt in the oesophagus, or more accurately, in the short shallow gasps of oxygen-deficient air up and down the breathing tubes. all the air in the world and there is insufficient oxygen in the lungs no matter how hard, how long and how deep you breathe. most obvious indicator of disappointment is the gradual onset of jaundice due to oxygen deprivation. disappointment has no colour. it is nothingness when you close your eyes, and nothingness when you open them.

miniskirts

last night, the mother randomly picked out a miniskirt of mine from the wash and brandished it before us at the dinner table.

"see? i think it's only 7 inches long!"

inspired by a certain Channel U variety show where the hosts compete to find 20 girls each in minis 12 inches or shorter, the mother decided to measure MY skirt.

this is the same mother who once hid all my skirts in a bid to stop me from wearing them :S

later in the night, i was greeted by this sight outside my room door.

ostentatiously displayed

10 inches, not too bad wht rite?!

"wah! shorter than Fiona Xie's skirt (in said show)!"

bah.

secretly, i went to measure some of my other skirts. all i can say is this: :S

in my defense, most of the other girls in the show were wearing skirts 10-12 inches long, so im not in the minority at all. in fact, there was one, ahem, girl who was in a 8.5 inches long (short?) mini! you should've seen the look on the hosts' faces when 'she' opened her mouth. woo!

'Animal Planet' meets 'Discovery'

is the fear of predators innate or learned?

i conducted my own experiment, meowing at the nest of birdies perched on the potted plant outside my front door.

no reaction.

one more try.

meeeoww!

utter disinterest in me.

neighbours sighting me meowing at a plant must think im mad. but they cant be too far from the truth. i am after all, meowing at birds.

baby birdie thinking the camera is mummy birdie bearing worms for lunch

EDITED!
cats dont eat birds, do they??? *pinch arms* cats eat RATS.
.......
i must be reading too much Garfield.

laundrywoman me

i have an obsessive habit of editing all the filenames of my downloaded things into precise structures. im finicky tht way. it MUST be in this format:

Artiste Name ft. Other Artiste Name (if applicable) - Song Title

or

Name of Show s#e## Episode Name

not just in my media player playlist, but also in the document directories they are saved in (which in itself is a catacomb of folders and subfolders immaculately organised and labelled). so when you have about a thousand songs and several movies and tv drama serials like i do, it really does mean alot of time spent uncluttering the junk.

so much so that X used to always chastise me to "stop doing your Monica (Geller) thing!"

i admit... it is a lil obsessive-compulsive. i cant bring myself to concentrate on other things when i know there is tht ONE title tht is in a mess. i HAVE to sort it out NOW. so when everyone else is mugging away for the exams, im squinting at the rows and rows of tiny prints to seek out tht messed-up filename.

recently, something enlightening happened.

i was folding the family laundry, like i usually do when im home, when the mother popped her head in and criticised my competency in folding clothes. now, this is an uncalled for affront... i happen to fold excellent laundry!

she proceeded to take apart everything tht i've folded neatly into baskets and demonstrated her preferred method of folding.

ah, apparently, shirts have to be folded over in 3, not 2 folds. same with the towels, 3, not 4, folds. who would've known. placements in the baskets have a structure too (!). towels right at the bottom, shirts on the top left, shorts on the top right. did i mention tht there is a system of hierarchy for sunning the laundry too?

laundering is such profound art!

there's no difference to me, after all, what's in the laundry basket has to be packed (pun intended) into my messy wardrobe later and it's all going to be one big mess anyway. but whatever makes the mother happy...

now if you catch me doing my Monica thing again, you know where i got my genes from. you just dont fight nature. ;)

bubble wrap

my heart is bundled up with bubble wrap.

it feels protected and strangely desensitised.

you can poke at it and maybe a couple of small bubbles will burst, but by and large the heart is still guarded from whatever emotions it might have.

for you, and you, and im okay

Suzanne Vega - Caramel
It won't do
to dream of caramel,
to think of cinnamon
and long for you.

It won't do
to stir a deep desire,
to fan a hidden fire
that can never burn true.

I know your name,
I know your skin,
I know the way
these things begin;

But I don't know
how I would live with myself,
what I'd forgive of myself
if you don't go.

So goodbye,
sweet appetite,
no single bite
could satisfy...

I know your name,
I know your skin,
I know the way
these things begin;

But I don't know
how I would live with myself
what I would give of myself,
if you don't go.

It won't do
to dream of caramel,
to think of cinnamon
and long for you.

i dont know why im eating scoops and scoops of ice-cream day after day. it's especially worrying since im not really an ice-cream sort of person at all. i like it, but i dont eat it that much or that often cos i find it too sweet after a few spoonfuls. im a 'proper food' kinda girl. give me a meal - appetisers, main course, drinks and dessert - the full works. must be the PMS. *shrugs*

today is a good day. i got sushi for lunch, international seafood buffet for dinner, too-pretty-to-resist lingerie, 2 new books AND ice-cream :):):)

odd news: School Mistakes Huge Burrito for a Weapon

Fri Apr 29, 4:08 PM ET
news link

CLOVIS, N.MA. - A call about a possible weapon at a middle school prompted police to put armed officers on rooftops, close nearby streets and lock down the school. All over a giant burrito.

Someone called authorities Thursday after seeing a boy carrying something long and wrapped into Marshall Junior High.

The drama ended two hours later when the suspicious item was identified as a 30-inch burrito filled with steak, guacamole, lettuce, salsa and jalapenos and wrapped inside tin foil and a white T-shirt.

"I didn't know whether to laugh or cry," school Principal Diana Russell said.

State police, Clovis police and the Curry County Sheriff's Department arrived at the school shortly after 8:30 a.m. They searched the premises and determined there was no immediate danger.

In the meantime, more than 30 parents, alerted by a radio report, descended on the school. Visibly shaken, they gathered around in a semi-circle, straining their necks, awaiting news.

"There needs to be security before the kids walk through the door," said Heather Black, whose son attends the school.

After the lockdown was lifted but before the burrito was identified as the culprit, parents pulled 75 students out of school, Russell said.

Russell said the mystery was solved after she brought everyone in the school together in the auditorium to explain what was going on.

"The kid was sitting there as I'm describing this (report of a student with a suspicious package) and he's thinking, 'Oh, my gosh, they're talking about my burrito.'"

Afterward, eighth-grader Michael Morrissey approached her.

"He said, 'I think I'm the person they saw,'" Russell said.

The burrito was part of Morrissey's extra-credit assignment to create commercial advertising for a product.

"We had to make up a product and it could have been anything. I made up a restaurant that specialized in oddly large burritos," Morrissey said.

After students heard the description of what police were looking for, he and his friends began to make the connection. He then took the burrito to the office.

"The police saw it and everyone just started laughing. It was a laughter of relief," Morrissey said.

"Oh, and I have a new nickname now. It's Burrito Boy."

it will be all good soon

insight: scary & sad dreams coincide with periods of depression.

this past weekend was pretty sucky. one filled with overwrought emotions.

i know i went on and on about moving out of home hall, but that's really the least of my concerns. it was the ending of something special plus the household politics that i now have to face the full force of, that really got me down. this, and coupled with my impending life as a corporate rat, that is, IF i get a job. i actually did one of my silent tearing things in the car again. the future looks bleak. what is there to look forward to?

BUT

i endeavour to stop being a wimp. i must, i will pull myself up and be the Ms Put-Together i set for myself as the new year's resolution.

"if you look at the world cynically, the world will match your low expectations"

before you know it, you'll see it displayed here on stupider sometime soon.

it's all good!!!

im really scared now

yet another nightmare last night.

and this time, im convinced that it doesnt mean nothing anymore. i am officially a disturbed young woman.

this latest dream was set in medieval times. there was a young nasty prince who loved to play evil pranks like sending poisoned apples to his enemies. one night as he was sneaking out of the front gates of his palace, he was caught by his parents, the king and queen, who accused him of breaching moral conducts by crossdressing (he wasn't. i dont get this part either, but it's a dream and who argues with dreams?) and the penalty was death, even if he was the prince.

he was put into the Chair of Execution, which really just resembles a very large wooden crate. and...

two blocks of wood pummelled down on his head, squashing his face.

worse.

the block of wood were raised later and i saw how a squashed and bloodied human face is supposed to look like.

tell me im sane... you guys have demented dreams too, dont you?

to date, i've dreamed of cannibals, mutilation, monsters (same link as previous), accidents (link somewhere in the bowels of this blog) and suicides (many instances, but links in an old blog which is not in use anymore). now i can add execution to my list of morbid dreams :S

when im not dreaming of horrific things, im having sad lonely dreams, or just plain weirded out dreams. how come i dont get my fair share of happy dreams???

i must have something wrong somewhere. i dont want to become a deranged lunatic! someone get me a psychiatrist, a priest, or even an exorcist pls.
